Our radon test uses a special monitor to look for elevated levels of radon in your home. The test runs for 48-hours to get the most accurate reading. For $150, we will set up the monitor, return after 48-hours to obtain the results and provide them to you in a separate report in addition to your home inspection.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas that occurs naturally as a byproduct of the decay of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It can seep into homes and buildings through cracks in floors, walls, and foundations, as well as through gaps around pipes and wires.
While radon is harmless in small amounts, prolonged exposure to high levels can increase the risk of lung cancer. Because it can accumulate in enclosed spaces, it’s important for homeowners to test for radon, especially in areas known to have high radon levels. If elevated radon levels are detected, mitigation systems can be installed to reduce radon concentrations and improve indoor air quality.
